Planning for a New Normal (including Restart Date)
My last blog was about the sudden announcement in parliament by Jacob Rees-Mogg on the 25/6/20 regarding when driving tuition could restart. Since then we have been told by the DVSA to await guidance as to how this can be done in as safe a manner as possible. This has just arrived this evening in the form of a National Associations Strategic Patnership (NASP) document. Before my business can reopen I need to fully read and implement this together with the 33 page HM Government document ‘Working safely during COVID-19 in or from a vehicle’. I also need to follow the 55 page DIA document ‘COVID-19 Infection Control and Safe Training Protocols for Driver and Rider Trainers’. So I have lots to do! Reading policies, working on a Risk Assessment, planning and then developing the best ways to implement the changes. In accordance with DIA advice this will also need to include changes to the Terms and Conditions and the implementation of a new Risk Waiver document.
I have already succesfully completed the DIA Academy course on Covid-19 Infection Control and Safe Training Protocols and have certification of this. As I have said before, I will not rush any of this but I do wish to restart as soon as it is practical to implement the ‘new normal’ and as such I am aiming for a restart date of 16/07/20 approx. Lessons will unfortunately be very different in many respects but I will send you a document ‘Pupil guidance - resuming lessons’ so you know what changes to expect on lessons. You will also receive a ‘Trainer Risk Assessment Check Sheet’ for your information. I will as always aim to teach you in an informative but enjoyable manner.
I will post any updates on this blog and I thank you for taking the time to read them.
