Plan to restart lessons (Please Read)
Late yesterday I receive an email informing me that as lockdown was soon ending driving tests in Tier 3 should resume on Thursday, a day later than lower tier area’s. Driving lessons would also be allowed. This is obviously very short notice. It is also worth noting that yesterday Covid-19 Deaths in the UK were over 600 (in one day). Yorkshire sadly still has a high fatality rate.
This virus as we all know now, does not effect everyone equally, and people at the younger end of the age scale (probably most of my learner drivers) are in a much safer position. Unfortunately it’s not quite as safe a situation for myself, my wife and elderly relatives reliant on us. In view of this, I don’t feel personally it’s safe to restart this week and from a practical perspective there will be a slight delay anyway. This short delay will hopefully allow daily deaths to drop further and it will also allow me time to fully prepare and sanitise my tuition vehicle. Also, as per Driving Instructor Association guidance I need to recheck all my learner drivers licences online prior to recommencing lessons. Please could all my drivers visit gov.uk (Check someones driving licence information) and generate a check code to send to me. I also need the last 8 characters of your driving licence number. This is just the same as you all had to do before starting lessons and after the previous lockdown ended.
I am hopeing to resume driving lessons next week as long as the situation improves, however I can only do this if I have your check code etc. I will, as before phone all learners just before each lesson. Covid-19 protocols will be in place as before and I will use this time prior to restart to see if these procedures can be improved in any way. I will this week text all my customers directly.
Thank you as always for your understanding.
